REGINA / ROULEAU (July 23, 2014) – Calling all CORNER GAS fans: the Corner Gas Backers’ Club, an exclusive, online, all-access backstage pass, is now live and it’s not too late to become a member. Fans are encouraged to visit cornergasthemovie.com and sign-up to receive special behind-the-scenes updates, photos, and footage leading up to the premiere of the movie this December. The exclusive Backers’ Club also includes videos of the cast reunion prior to the start of production, the making-of-the-movie process, and upcoming red carpet premieres, plus video messages from the cast, guest stars, the director, the producers, and even fellow fans. Originally a Kickstarter reward, The Backers’ Club is now open to the general public for a one-time registration fee of $25 via PayPal.
Along with the Backers’ Club, fans are also invited to sing the CORNER GAS theme song, “Not A Lot Goin’ On”, written by Craig Northey and Jesse Valenzuela, in the soon- to-launch CORNER GAS Sing-A-Long Booth, located in the town of Rouleau, Sask.
The karaoke-style booth, created to look like the Dog River grain elevator, will be setup this month in the CORNER GAS Souvenir Store, and remain through to Labour Day. An edited compilation video of fans singing the song will appear in the special collectors edition DVD and in Cineplex Theatres during the film screening.
In addition, Regina-based tour operator, Eco-Party Adventures, is offering the CORNER GAS Express to Dog River. The tour takes fans behind-the-scenes from the Regina Soundstage, to the streets of Rouleau, Sask. (cleverly disguised as Dog River). Tour highlights include the CORNER GAS Station, The Ruby Café, and a walk along Main Street to visit the exterior locations of the Dog River Hotel Bar, Post Office, Police Station, The Howler, Foo Mart, and Oscar and Emma’s home. The tour wraps at the CORNER GAS Sing-a-long Booth in the Corner Gas Souvenir Store. Tours run July through Labour Day, 2014.
The CORNER GAS celebrations continue with Dog River Days this weekend, a country fair in Rouleau, Sask., honouring the 10th Anniversary of CORNER GAS. From July 25- 27, the town of Rouleau is hosting a three-day country fair in true ‘Dog River’ style with events including a pancake breakfast, chilli cook-off, carnival, farmer’s market, car show, firefighters’ demonstration, and chilli cheese dog and watermelon eating contests. On July 26, Brent Butt, Fred Ewanuick, Craig Northey, director David Storey, and a film crew will be filming fans singing the theme song “Not A Lot Goin’ On” for the final closing credits of the movie.
