The Dog River Hotel also contained the local bar and was a gathering place for the residents of Dog River. It was originally owned by Paul Kinistino, but his brother Phil replaced him as bartender during the series. In Corner Gas: The Movie, Phil closed the bar and moved to Moose Jaw to pursue his dream of becoming a lifeguard, but Brent kept it open by buying it - and somehow managed to run both the Gas Station and the Bar (even fending off competition from Wanda’s illicit operation run out of Davis’ basement)!

For the series Corner Gas, all of the exterior and interior scenes were filmed here at the hotel in Rouleau. The building was renovated between the filming of the sitcom and the movie and looked different, so the production team from Corner Gas: The Movie recreated the interior of the bar at the Saskatchewan Sound Stage in Regina.

The Dog River Hotel is a central part of life in the town and you’ll see it again in Corner Gas Animated.

The Hotel was featured in the #1 Dog River Moment:

This episode, “Rock On,” was from season two and also featured Canadian musicians The Tragically Hip and Colin James. Their scenes were all shot in the Saskatchewan Sound Stage, although The Tragically Hip’s appearance was filmed about two months after the actual episode was shot.
