This is the original site of the set of the Corner Gas Station and The Ruby Café, featured in 107 episodes of Corner Gas, Corner Gas: The Movie and the inspiration for Corner Gas Animated.

The buildings were built in 2003 and were built solely for filming. The set was designed to replicate the classic independent gas stations and diners popular in western Canada from the 1950s to 1960s. The Ruby Diner was inspired by vintage diners, including the Novia Café in Regina.

Once the show became a hit, Rouleau and the set became a popular tourist destination; welcoming thousands of visitors across Canada and around the world – thank you for joining the group!

Both the Gas Station and The Ruby were built as set structures, not as permanent buildings, and by 2016 the sets had fallen into disrepair and were no longer safe for the public.

The sets were dismantled on November 4, 2016. However, the original designs inspired the designs for Corner Gas Animated, slated to air on The Comedy Network and CTV in Jan 2018. Corner Gas Animated will feature all the characters from the original show and will also be set in Dog River. There’s still a lot going on 40 kilometres from nowhere – only this time we’re not limited by the laws of physics.
